A ceremony took place on June 2nd, 2007 to rename part of Terry Road as Peter Brennan Road. Peter Brennan was a lifelong resident of Ronkonkoma. He grew up near the lake, off of Motor Parkway. When he married and started a family, he bought a house a few blocks away, staying in Ronkonkoma. He was a volunteer member of the Lakeland Fire Department and was always in the Lake Ronkonkoma Memorial Day Parade. Peter was a member of the New York City Fire Department, Rescue 4 in Woodside, Queens. He died in Tower Two on 9/11/2001. He left behind his pregnant wife, Erica, and one child.
Some dignitaries in attendance to honor Peter included Suffolk County Legislator John Kennedy, New York State Senator John Flanagan, and New York State Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick.
Peter Brennan will be missed by the residents of Ronkonkoma.
