Sober Homes Continue to Trouble Neighborhoods

Assemblywoman Fields sponsored legislation (A.1533)
regarding uncontrolled "sober homes," which would
bring oversight to these residences. The legislation
was passed two years ago but vetoed by former
Governor Pataki.
Unfortunately, too many "sober homes" in Suffolk
County are rented out as "flop houses" with no
supervision over the residents, overcrowding,
premises that are unsafe, and in which no programs
are offered to the residents that could help them in
their recovery.
Assemblywoman Fields is appealing to constituents in the 5th Assembly District to report "sober homes" related to crime, illegal activity, public intoxication, drug sales, etc. This would allow Assemblywoman Fields to use your reports as evidence to pass the legislation so that "sober homes" will finally have oversight.
You can contact Fields’ office at 631-589-8685.
